Beginner Guide: Jerry, Camp and the First Nights
The first hour of this game is a routine, not a fight: bones, a bed, a fire, and a wolf that keeps leaving dead things next to you.
Collect bones, feed Jerry three of them to tame him, put a camp together before dark and sleep in your own bed. Come back on seven separate days and claim the seventh daily reward for the Seven Days badge.

The first hour of Something is Wrong With My Dog is not a fight. It is a routine: collect bones, feed the wolf, put a bed down, survive until the light comes back. Once that routine works, the game opens up into the map, the story and ten different ways to end a run. This guide is the routine, in the order it happens.
The loop in one table
| Step | What you do | Badge it feeds |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Collect bones from the world | — |
| 2 | Feed Jerry three bones to tame him | Good Boy |
| 3 | Place camp and a bed | — |
| 4 | Sleep through a whole night in your own bed | Sweet Dreams |
| 5 | Wake up, feed him if he is hurt | Treat Time |
| 6 | Come back on separate days for the daily reward | Seven Days |
Everything else — the cabin, the grave, the log, the endings — sits on top of that loop.
Bones are the only currency that matters
Robux buys passes. Bones buy Jerry. The taming condition is in the game's own badge text: three bones, and he is yours, he follows you home. That is the whole tutorial, compressed into one sentence.
Bones come from the world, which means the first thing a new player should do is stop building and start gathering. The store page also sells a 2x Bones pass for 199 Robux, and if you plan to play for more than an evening it is the cheapest change to the loop on the list — see the game pass prices for the full seven.
There is no way to buy your way past the taming itself. Good Boy sits at 1.0% with 1,654,658 unlocks, which makes it one of the two most common badges in the game and the clearest proof that three bones is the real entry requirement.
Camp: the bed is the part that counts
Camp is not a menu and it is not a blueprint. You place objects with right click, and the store page's promise is simply that a camp gets you to morning. In practice one object does the heavy lifting: the bed.
Sleeping through an entire night in your own bed unlocks Sweet Dreams, the second most common badge in the game at 0.922% and 1,160,869 unlocks. The badge text specifies your own bed, so if you are sharing a camp with other players, mark which one is yours before it gets dark.
The seven-day reward chain
The daily reward is a real commitment and the badge proves it. Seven Days is awarded for coming back on seven separate days in a row and claiming the seventh day's reward, and only 221 players have it. That number tells you what kind of badge it is: not hard, just long.
For scale, that is roughly the same population as the rarest ending in the game. If you are chasing completion, the daily chain is the one badge you cannot grind in an afternoon, so start it on day one and treat the seven days as a background task.
Feeding, and the two ways it goes wrong
Feeding Jerry when he is hurt is the reflex the game rewards: Treat Time, 58,899 unlocks. Letting him go hungry until he leaves is the reflex it records as a mistake: Left Hungry, 46,719 unlocks. Both are common, both happen early, and the difference is whether you check on him after a bad night.
| Situation | What to do | Badge |
|---|---|---|
| He comes back hurt | Feed him | Treat Time |
| He has not been fed in a long time | Feed him before he walks out | (avoids Left Hungry) |
| You want him gone | Do nothing and wait | Left Hungry |
The Jerry guide goes deeper on feeding, naming and the run where he never turns.
Your first-week checklist
- Tame Jerry with three bones — this unlocks the rest of the game.
- Sleep one full night in your own bed for Sweet Dreams.
- Press M early and learn the three places Bob's map names: cabin, grave and log.
- Bank a daily reward every day you log in, heading for day seven.
- Feed him when he comes back hurt, every time.
- Pick a direction for your first ending instead of drifting — the endings page lists all ten with their unlock rates.
What comes after the routine
Once the loop is automatic, the game turns into a story about a wolf that is not quite a wolf. Jerry leaves something dead by the bed every morning, Bob's map keeps pointing at a grave, and Uncle Ray is still missing. That is where the lore page starts, and where the endings begin to separate.
If you would rather test yourself without the plot, Survival Mode keeps the same world and removes the story entirely — see Survival Mode for how the three-night challenge works.
